There are several reasons why the numlock key may not come on in Windows 95. Go
through the checklist below to fix this problem.
- This setting is configurable in your computer's BIOS. Make sure that you have this
set correctly.
- Some keyboard drivers allow you to set this value. Check in the Control Panel under
keyboard and see if you can set it there.
- Try adding a line to the config.sys file that reads "numlock=on"
- If you have tried all of the above and the numlock key still will not stay on when
Windows loads, you will need to create a registry key that instructs Windows to
turn this on for you. Create the following registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Microsoft Input Devices\Keyboard]
"Numlock"="ON"
If you are uncomfortable creating registry keys, you can download
keyboard.reg. Merge it into your registry and it will automatically create
the key listed above.
