To beef up your Windows help file, add the Windows 95 Resource Kit to it. First copy the files from your Windows CD. You will find them in \ADMIN\RESKIT\HELPFILE on the Windows 95 CD. The files you need to copy are Win95rk.hlp and Win95rk.cnt. Copy these files to the \Windows\Help folder on your hard drive. To include these files in the main Windows help file, open Windows.cnt (located in the \Windows\Help directory) in Notepad and add the following lines to the end of the file:
:include Win95rk.cnt
:Index Windows Resource Kit=Win95rk.hlp
The next time you choose help off of the Start Menu, it should tell you that it is preparing to use help for the first time. This is because it will need to rebuild the gid file to add the Resource Kit. If the changes do not take effect, you will need to delete the hidden file Windows.gid from the \Windows\Help directory or type in the Start | Run box:
Winhlp32 -G c:\windows\help\Windows.hlp
